Study Links Marijuana To Rise In Youth Psychiatric Emergencies

A new study indicates that more young people with psychiatric emergencies visited a Boston hospital after recreational marijuana was legalized.

The study by Mass General Brigham examined thousands of records of teenagers treated at Mass General's psychiatric emergency service.

The data shows a 300 percent increase in younger psychiatric patients testing positive for THC after recreational pot was legalized in the state in 2017.

The increases were reported to be much smaller in older age groups.
