Plans are being proposed to build a new courthouse in downtown Springfield.
The proposal would see five buildings demolished on Chestnut and Lyman streets to make way for a new Hampden County courthouse.
Springfield's Historical Commission has approved of the plans, even though two of the five buildings which would be demolished are recognized as historic.
A final vote on the proposal by the state is expected to come in the next month.
