Kids' Cavities Would Increase By Millions If Fluoride Is Banned

A new study warns a national ban on fluoride in public drinking water could result in billions of dollars in dental fees for families and rotten teeth.

It shows that if all 50 states stopped community water fluoridation programs, kids in the U.S. could develop over 25 million more cavities in the next five years. The addition of fluoride in public water systems has already been banned in Utah and Florida.

Under Robert F. Kennedy's leadership, Health and Human Services has eliminated the CDC's oral health division which funds states to promote dental hygiene practices.

One of the study 's authors says low-income families and kids on Medicaid would be disproportionately affected.
