Northeast, New England Straining Under Wildfire Air Quality Alerts

Doctors say the best protection from all that wildfire smoke wafting down from Canada is to stay inside but that's not all.

Health experts say keep your windows closed, put wet towels around cracks under the doors, and if you've got an air purifier, use it.

Doctors also say drink lots of water to stay hydrated and skip cooking or vacuuming which stirs up indoor pollutants.

If you must go outside, they recommend wearing a good face mask with a tight fit, preferably an n95 respirator mask.

Dermatologists say wear long sleeves and pants and wash your skin when you come back in.
